The Internet is basically a network of networks connecting globally through ISPs, NAPS, routers, POPs, servers, etc. Through ISPs, computers are able to connect to the Internet and other computers. Companies have NAPs that allow them to interact with other companies. Routers are used to direct things where they need to go.
ISP: Internet Service Provider
NAP: Network Access Points
POP: Point of Presence

Post-Dispatch & Shovelware? Say It Ain't So!
The Post-Dispatch published a story in their July 18 newspaper entitled,"To get close to U2, fans sweat it out." I went to their website and didn't have to look very far before I came across the same exact story with the same exact headline, the same exact content, with the same exact length. The story was conveniently found via internal link named "U2" in the navigation bar.
Shovelware is internet/computer jargon describing the act of basically copy and pasting the print form of a story to the internet, without condensing or editing for the different medium. I can't say that I'm surprised, after all, it's the Post-Disgrace.

Cubby vs. Compuserve (1991)
Cubby vs. Compuserve of 1991 was the case that question whether or not internet service providers being held subject to the traditional defamation law for their hosted content, by the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Compuserve was an internet service provider but was not found accountable for the defamatory content on one of their forums because they had no knowledge of it, nor did they claim to monitor the content that is published on their forums. They are merely hosts. In order for an internet service provider to be held accountable for defamation charges, they have to have claimed to monitor or edit their forums.

Navigation Exercise
Today in class I created 3 html pages and a style sheet all on my own. The more I practice the easier web design, html, and css get for me! I am now finished with every step of the email directions for today's class project!
